Before we start the freedom ride you need to know this:

    Not long ago, probably when your grandparents were in school, African Americans did not have the same rights under the law as white Americans.  Sadly, many people in different parts of the country, particularly the South, liked the laws the way they were, but many other people were angry and upset, and wanted the unfair laws changed.  These people participated in the Civil Rights Movement – activities that helped change the unfair laws so that everyone had  “equal protection of the law.”
